The beginning of today’s successful growing corporation goes back to April 22, 1998, as “CellStar del Perú S.A.” whose major shareholder is CellStar Ltd. This is the beginning of a very positive management, as CellStar Ltd., founded in Carrollton – Texas in 1981 is to date the biggest distributor of cellular telephony equipment in the world, with operations in U.S.A., Asia and Latin America, with a turnover of approximately 2,3 billion dollars a year.

CellStar operations in strengthened by signing an agreement with Telefónica in the first quarter of 1998 establishing a total outsourcing for the administration of the prepaid telephonic system using state-of-the-art hardware and software, manufacturing and distributing on a wholesale basis pre-paid calling cards for cellular phones, fixed telephones and public booths. All the value chain, from the conception until the arrival at the end user was integrated and developed by CellStar.

In order to support post sales a Call Center was purchased and we achieved to have a team working three shifts. It is important to point out that CellStar experience in this area contributed locally to a rapid increase in prepaid cellular telephony, becoming one of its main businesses in telecommunications.

Four years later, during the first quarter of 2002, CellStar Ltd. decided to make a change in the share structure of the company, by signing a contract with private investors interested in pursuing the development of the business with a very sui generis knowledge of the market: more flexibility in local operations due to the fact that the Peruvian market requires a special way of doing business, the priority of new investors was to consolidate preexistent businesses, such as telephones and pre paid cards. This new company would be backed by an exclusivity agreement with CellStar Ltd. until year 2007. In this matter, on August 6, 2002 it changes its commercial name to Zilicom Investments S.A., setting off towards the search of new businesses and a product portfolio diversification.

Zilicom Investments S.A. is acknowledged as one of the main companies related to the telecommunications industry for the following reasons:

1. It supplies cellular phones besides offering a post-sales service called Authorized Technical Service.
2. It distributes and markets prepaid cards for fixed and mobile telephones (Sale of Air-ime).
3. It carries out Quality Control and Fulfillment: Control, packing and delivery operations for different telephone system operators.

In view that Zilicom has a proven distribution and sales experience, it is beginning to develop supplementary units and to sell novelty products that are not necessarily telecommunications related but are related to products that arise from interesting innovations, in their origin, manufacture and functionality as well as with respect to the marketing of mass consumption products
